Kyiv Baroque Festival: Embracing New Musical Horizons

From November 10 to 21, the international baroque music festival takes place in Kyiv, bringing together talents from Ukraine and Europe. This event symbolizes resilience in challenging times.
“Creating such a festival during wartime showcases our determination and commitment to musical dialogue. It is a platform for collaboration between Ukrainian and foreign musicians, highlighting the complexities of our world. We thank all our partners for supporting this essential initiative!” said Halyna Hryhorenko, Deputy Minister of Culture.
The festival is organized by the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in collaboration with Open Opera Ukraine and other cultural institutions, supported by diplomatic missions of European countries.
This year’s theme, Take Five!, references a famous jazz standard and five prominent composers who shaped European music: Heinrich Schütz, Georg Friedrich Handel, Domenico Scarlatti, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Maxim Berezovsky. Their music connects diverse cultural traditions.
The festival features performances by renowned musicians from all corners of the world, including countertenor Andreas Scholl, the Festina Lente ensemble, cornet player Josue Melendez Pelae, and others.
This year, the festival collaborates with the Ukrainian brand FREEki for the official merchandise design, exemplifying social responsibility where ethics and creativity converge.
As organizers note, Take Five! invites everyone to listen to five voices uniting Europe and emphasizes the significance of Ukrainian culture within this context.
Festival partners include the Embassies of France, Germany, Belgium, and other cultural institutions.
