Children Embroider Amulet for the SBU
Young artists from the National Library of Ukraine for Children have created a unique embroidered amulet for the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk. This took place during the celebration of Defender's Day, where children presented the handmade shirt during their meeting.
Inspired by the courageous actions of the Service, particularly the operation «Web», the children poured their creativity into this gift.
The design of the embroidery features traditional symbols: the trident, the Cossack cross, and the image of Cossack Mamay, symbolizing the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
«This shirt will serve as a powerful talisman during our upcoming missions. The energy we invested will inspire us to achieve new heights, as children are our future. I hope that one day, someone from them will serve in the SBU during peacetime,» noted the Head of the SBU.
In addition to presenting the gift, the Service employees organized a tour for the children at the SBU Museum, where they discussed the dangers of recruitment by enemy intelligence services targeting Ukrainian children.
The «Embroidery for a Hero» project was initiated by the National Library of Ukraine for Children, allowing visitors to vote for famous Ukrainians to have shirts embroidered for them. This year, the winner was Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
The initiative started on July 15 in Pereyaslav, on Ukrainian Statehood Day, and lasted for two and a half months.
