Daily Moment of Silence in Ukraine
Kyiv and its region have taken the lead in a new initiative that involves honoring the fallen heroes every day at 09:00. This practice of halting traffic during the moment of silence will soon be extended nationwide.
This was announced by the Ministry of Community Development and Territories via Telegram.
«The Ministry is implementing a practice of stopping vehicular traffic during the national moment of silence at 09:00 in collaboration with communities and regions», the statement reads.
In cities and villages of Kyiv Oblast, traffic is already being halted on main streets, and a similar order will soon be issued in the capital. The patrol police will manage traffic flow on Khreshchatyk.
It is noted that earlier, the Ministry, together with the NGO «Honour», presented a Roadmap for implementing the moment of silence. This is a concise yet detailed guide for local authorities, including step-by-step instructions, legal justifications, communication examples with citizens and media, as well as ready solutions for various situations—from traffic halting algorithms to audio and video support.
At 9:00, the center of Kyiv came to a standstill for the nationwide moment of silence, as reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachенко, on Telegram.
According to him, "today at 9:00, the center of the capital stopped for a moment of silence. This moment is in memory of all those killed by Russia."
Tkachенко thanked the drivers, pedestrians, and activists who participated.
