Art Installation: A New Tribute in Kyiv
On June 25, a new art installation named 'Awareness' was unveiled in Kyiv, symbolizing gratitude towards the territorial defense forces who have been protecting the country since the onset of the war.
This installation serves as a space for contemplation, allowing individuals to reflect on the emotions experienced in the early days of the invasion and recognize how fear transformed into determination.
Art Installation 'Awareness': A Symbol of Change
The sculpture is located in the Obolon district, near the 'Heroes of Dnipro' metro station. This area became a crucial front in Kyiv's defense during the February invasion.
Here, Ukrainian defenders, including territorial defense brigades, halted the enemy's advance.
The installation consists of two faces: one is inverted, representing fear, while the other is calm, symbolizing inner strength.
This sculpture illustrates the emotional journey of Ukrainians since the war began - from fear to strength and readiness to fight.
The first to embark on this journey were the defenders of territorial defense.
“I remember our discussions about the concept of this art installation and how quickly we reached an agreement. It reflects the unity of our community and respect for the bravery of our defenders,” said director Ahmet Seyitbalaev.

The creators of the sculpture are Ukrainian artists, brothers Yegor and Nikita Zigura. They are also known for their composition 'Unity' on the Dnipro waterfront.
During the war, these artists actively collaborate with volunteer organizations, addressing themes of resistance. Among their projects is the exhibition 'Peaceful Sky' in France.
The 'Awareness' installation was created as part of the 'EYE FOR AN EYE' initiative, supported by the OKKO gas station network and the 'Come Back Alive' fund. This initiative provides soldiers with modern equipment.
“We aimed to capture the contribution to the defense of our country through art. This is a tribute to everyone who has willingly taken up arms to protect Ukraine,” emphasized OKKO COO Vasyl Dmytriv.
“I want to thank the Defense Forces of Ukraine for their incredible efforts. OKKO has been our strategic partner for many years,” added Oleg Karpenko from the 'Come Back Alive' fund.
