Charity Run Supporting Special Operations in Ukraine
A charity event took place at VDNH in Kyiv, featuring representatives from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This event, named after military journalist Major Oleksiy Chubashev, is organized by Run Ukraine in collaboration with his wife, Yulia Chubasheva. Each year, it brings together more people who view the terms “honor,” “memory,” and “strength” as meaningful values.
The event also saw participation from the “SSO Recruiting” initiative.
Run Ukraine's traditional partner is “SSO Recruiting.” At VDNH’s main square, special forces set up a themed area to better engage children and civilians with their work.
“It is truly an honor for us to participate in the run in honor of ‘Rekrut,’” says Alina Furman, spokesperson for “SSO Recruiting.” “Oleksiy Chubashev made an incredible impact on the Special Operations Forces by promoting the Q-course — one of the best and toughest training programs that prepares soldiers for survival in various conditions. Many still associate the Q-course with Oleksiy’s name today.
It was heartening to see young people interested in job vacancies, units, engaging with recruiters and our military personnel. Today, people were less focused on simulators and more eager for real conversations and practical knowledge. We are inspired, in good spirits, with new contacts and challenges, and we are already preparing for future similar events.”
The SSO location combined information and experience: everyone interested could learn about serving in the SSO, check out drones used on the front lines, and even take part in challenges such as trying out as a reconnaissance operator, feeling like a driver of a modern buggy, or neutralizing an enemy drone in a virtual battle.
“Titan” administered the tests, while SSO recruiters ran.
One of the most interesting elements was the physical readiness test for SSO service, conducted by SSO ambassador Oleksandr “Titan” Titienko. Depending on age and gender, participants had to complete a specific number of pull-ups, push-ups, and sit-ups. Those who met the standards received gifts from the well-known military brand Camotec. The line for the “Titan” test did not dwindle until the end of the event.
The friendly team from “SSO Recruiting” demonstrated the importance of sports by participating in the run. The guys and girls, many of whom have combat experience, completed the distance with smiles on their faces, proudly raising the flag of the Special Operations Forces at the finish line.
