Support for Ukrainian Captives in Warsaw
An event titled «Come Back Alive» took place in Warsaw’s Castle Square to support over 70,000 Ukrainian military personnel and civilians who remain in Russian captivity or are missing.
This initiative was organized by the «Euromaidan-Warsaw» group in collaboration with the charity foundation «Heart in Action» and the project «Voices of the Captives», which aids families of captives and shares their stories with the world.
The event featured empty chairs symbolizing the absence of captives, along with posters displaying photos, names, stories, and QR codes for attendees to learn about the lives of prisoners.
"Silence is part of the torture. If we remain silent here, we allow that darkness to persist there. We must speak for those who are tortured, humiliated, and simply want to survive and return home. While they are there, we must be their voice," said event organizer and volunteer Emma Zahynayko.
Throughout the event, attendees could write letters to Ukrainian soldiers who had endured captivity and returned home. The organizers assured that each letter would be delivered to its intended recipient.
