Remembering Yuriy Felipenko: Actor and Hero
Sadly, we have lost a 32-year-old defender.
On June 19, a farewell ceremony was held in Kyiv for actor and fighter of the 429th Achilles regiment, Yuriy Felipenko.
His death was announced by his wife, Kateryna Motrych.
"Yura was my universe, my soul, and my light. It’s hard to express this loss in words. I feel like I have been destroyed," she wrote.
Yuriy began his career while studying at the National University of Theater, Film, and Television named after I. K. Karpenko-Karyi. Later, he continued his acting career at the Kyiv Academic Drama Theater on Podil.
He also appeared in television productions and acted in films such as "Promise to God", "Operation Deserter", "Castle on the Sand", and more.
With the onset of the Russian invasion, Yuriy became actively involved in volunteering, but later decided to join the defense forces.
"My husband always supported me and never tried to diminish my worth. His belief in me helped in everything I did. True admiration is when I grow as a person, not a struggle for superiority," Kateryna noted.
Yuriy served in the 429th separate drone regiment "Achilles". According to his comrades, they could always rely on him during the toughest assaults.
Unfortunately, on June 15, during a combat mission, Yuriy lost his life. Now he is forever 32.
"He had a beautiful life, he went to fight voluntarily so we could live in peace. Erase everything Russian from your hearts, forget the enemy's language and culture. It is only because of Russia that we are gathered here today, looking at Yuriy's cold body," said the defender's wife during the farewell.
