The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved an exciting program for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games set to take place in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The press release emphasizes that a key focus in developing the 2028 Olympic program was the issue of gender equality.
While men will compete for more medals than women in Los Angeles (165 vs. 161), the total number of female participants will surpass that of male participants for the first time: 5333 vs. 5167.
This advantage for women has been achieved, particularly through the expansion of women's team sports, where they will have equal representation with men.
For instance, the number of teams in the men's football tournament has been reduced from 16 to 12, while the women's tournament has increased from 12 to 16. In six sports, including table tennis, archery, and athletics (4x100m relay), new mixed tournaments for men and women will be introduced. Overall, there will be 22 more medal events in 2028 compared to the previous Olympics in Paris.
