Launch of the Album "Postponed Dreams" by the Duo Formula
On February 12 at 18:00, the concert-launch of the new album "Postponed Dreams" by the Duo Formula will take place at the Goethe Institute in Kyiv, featuring renowned musicians Tetyana Pavliuchuk-Tyschkevych (piano) and Nazariy Stets (double bass).
This event is significant for Ukraine, as there has not been a professional album featuring the double bass and piano since independence.
To date, no Ukrainian musician has released academic music for the double bass on digital media. The creation of this album was made possible through the Per Forma grant program initiated by Kyiv Contemporary Music Days, Fonds Podiumkunsten, and the Ministry of Culture of the Netherlands.
What does the album "Postponed Dreams" represent?
Tetyana Pavliuchuk-Tyschkevych: The album features a collection of contemporary works specifically written or adapted for the duo of double bass and piano. A crucial aspect of this project is our collaboration with the composers whose music is included in the album. Among them are Sonata e moll by Vilmos Montag, "Elegy" by Zoltan Almashi, "Legend" by Hennadiy Lyashenko, and others.
Nazariy Stets: The title "Postponed Dreams" reflects the realities of our time. For us, as musicians who have chosen to remain in Ukraine during the war, this album symbolizes hope in difficult times. We strive to realize our dreams and never stop achieving.
Nazariy expressed concern about the popularity of the double bass among young musicians in Ukraine.
Nazariy Stets: Unfortunately, there is a lack of new talent playing the double bass in Ukraine. I believe that new recordings and repertoire will help change this situation. My aim is to promote the double bass as an equal instrument in music.
About your charitable activities. You often organize concerts to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Tetyana Pavliuchuk-Tyschkevych: During the war, we established the Music Unites fund to assist those affected. We aim to show the world that Ukraine is not just about war, but also a rich cultural heritage.
