New Electronic Warfare System for Vehicles
The Ukrainian company Unwave has announced its new multi-channel electronic warfare system CVN "Boat-2", aimed at safeguarding vehicles from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). More details can be found on the company's website.
This system is designed as a roof-mounted box that can be easily attached to standard railings. It can operate both while the vehicle is in motion and in stationary positions, maintaining the vehicle's civilian appearance.
The manufacturer states that the system can be universally installed on any vehicle, making it highly adaptable.
The system was developed as a practical solution for quick connectivity and stable operation.
According to specifications, "Boat-2" features 14 suppression modules of 50 W each, covering critical control and video transmission frequencies of UAVs ranging from 320 to 1050 MHz, 1.9 to 2.7 GHz, and 5.1 to 5.3 GHz, including both horizontal and vertical polarization. This dual polarization support helps reduce the chances of maintaining communication with drones that can change orientation during flight.
According to the manufacturer, the 320-1050 MHz and 1.9-2.7 GHz ranges are primarily used by FPV drones, while 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz, and 5.8 GHz are typical for models like Mavic and Autel. The total power output of the system is claimed to be up to 1 kW, with active cooling.
The system operates on 28 V DC and can draw over 100 amps during operation, indicating high power demand for the electronic warfare system. The stated capacity of the battery allows for operation for several hours without external power supply.
Among its notable features is a DC-DC converter for each module, which maintains full power at varying battery charge levels and prevents efficiency drops during prolonged use.
The casing is made from radio-transparent plastic. According to Unwave, its weight is up to 100 kg, with dimensions of 215×90×45 cm.
The company suggests using "Boat-2" in conjunction with the "Bashur" electronic reconnaissance detector, which has a detection range of 70 MHz to 6.2 GHz and a detection radius of up to 2 km. Unwave describes an automated scenario where the "Bashur" detects a threat and activates suppression, providing the operator with data on the control panel.
The manufacturer emphasizes that "Boat-2" is produced in Ukraine with minimal use of imported components, while the main components, assembly, and quality control are handled by its own team. They also mention the possibility of adapting the system's configuration to specific operational conditions.
Unwave adds that "Boat-2" was developed based on the "Shatro" series of electronic warfare systems, which primarily cater to stationary or semi-mobile usage against UAVs. "Boat-2" serves as an adaptation of these technical solutions for mobile formats.
According to "Oboronka", frequency distribution may vary depending on the front line. For effective suppression, electronic warfare must cover a broad frequency spectrum and operate with adequate power, as some drones utilize signal amplifiers or change operating channels during flight.
The effectiveness of electronic warfare is also influenced by the emission angle, UAV flight altitude, and terrain, which is why mobile systems are typically used at short distances.
