New Drone for Ukrainian Forces from Latvia

The Ukrainian armed forces are set to receive the advanced surface drone FOG, purchased by a charitable organization from Latvia. The funding for this acquisition came from donations made by citizens and businesses, as reported by the Latvian public broadcaster LSM.lv.
The drone, developed by NEWT21, will be sent to Ukraine. Thanks to Ziedot.lv, approximately 100,000 euros were raised for this technology, which will aid Ukrainian defenders.
This unmanned vehicle can operate autonomously or be remotely controlled. Ukrainian military personnel completed training on the FOG drone at the end of 2025.
"This marine drone has already covered 100 kilometers during testing, with a maximum range of up to 700 kilometers," said Janis Garisons, head of NEWT21, as quoted on the LSM.lv site.
This is the second drone that Ziedot.lv is providing to Ukraine. According to project leader Ruta Dimanta, they previously supplied a catamaran-type drone. In 2026, they plan to send military aid to Ukraine monthly, amounting to at least 100,000 euros.
The FOG drone was designed by the Latvian company NEWT21 for patrolling, surveillance, and conducting combat and reconnaissance operations in maritime and inland waters.
Made from carbon and aramid fibers, it can carry up to 200 kilograms. The drone measures 4.5 meters in length, 1.5 meters in width, and can reach speeds of up to 78 kilometers per hour. Variants of the FOG may include additional sensors and weapon systems.
Earlier reports indicated that Latvia tested the first low-cost missile for intercepting strike and reconnaissance UAVs.
