A New Celebration: Special Cancellation at St. Sophia
Special cancellation — a distinctive postal stamp affixed on the day of the stamp's release, granting it the status of a commemorative and collectible item.
Just before Christmas, a significant event took place at the historic St. Sophia Cathedral, which has crossed the thousand-year mark, uplifting our spirits and bringing joy.
This symbolic ceremony featured Ihor Smilianskyi, CEO of JSC «Ukrposhta», His Beatitude Epiphanius, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, along with the director of the National Preserve «St. Sophia of Kyiv» and artist Anton Lohov, the creator of the postal release.
The stamp «Christmas Angel» — represents Christmas, which connects us. About a faith that never fades. About the goodness we nurture and pass on, even through a small envelope.
«May this angelic message bring a ray of hope into your festive letters», — expressed the wishes during the celebration at St. Sophia Cathedral.
His Beatitude Epiphanius and Nelya Kukovalska announced the next special cancellation at the XII-century monument — the Cyril Church.
