Christmas in Occupied Territories: Celebrations and Traditions

In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the movement ‘Yellow Ribbon’ organized a unique campaign for Christmas. They shared photos showcasing their celebrations, dressed in embroidered shirts, preparing the traditional 12 dishes, setting up Christmas trees, and adorning them with Ukrainian symbols. This was published on their Telegram channel.
“Despite the prohibitions, Ukrainian Christmas continues to thrive in difficult conditions. We aim to show how activists celebrate Christmas: wearing embroidered shirts, preparing traditional dishes, setting up Christmas trees and decorating them with Ukrainian symbols, preserving what the occupiers attempt to erase. At the festive table, we make our deepest wish — for freedom, Ukraine's victory, and health for our loved ones,” they stated.
Activists also emphasized that Christmas cannot be occupied.
