Holiday Train Rides: A Festive Experience for Children
Ukrzaliznytsia is kicking off a new season of festive train rides — during the weekend of St. Nicholas, magical retro trains will operate, powered by steam locomotives.
The "Magic Express" will run on December 5, 6, and 7 in Kyiv and Lviv, creating a true winter celebration atmosphere for children.
This year, the main passengers will be children from frontline communities, as well as children of railway workers — including those who have been injured, fallen, or currently serve in the Defense Forces.
Families from Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions can not only travel to Kyiv or Lviv for free under the "3000 km Across Ukraine" program but also receive free tickets for the "Holiday Express".
Here's what you need to do:
- Activate the "3000 km Across Ukraine" program in the UZ app.
- Purchase tickets using bonus kilometers for December 4-7 for yourself and children.
- Register to participate in the journey using the provided link.
- Wait for confirmation from Ukrzaliznytsia — the number of tickets is limited.
Schedule for steam train departures:
- December 5 — 14:00, 17:00
- December 6 — 10:00, 13:00
- December 7 — 10:00, 13:00
The trip will last about two hours and will include one stop within the city. Specially adapted children's carriages are available for the youngest passengers.
Ukrzaliznytsia advises arriving at the station early — 30 minutes before the departure, to have time to take photos and participate in the festive animation program.
During air raid alerts, trains will operate as scheduled, and the children's entertainment program will be moved to safe shelters.
