New Housing for Displaced Families: Opening of the "Hansen Town"
The Kyiv region has launched another phase of the "Hansen Town" project, providing shelter for families from war-affected regions. Over 500 families from Kherson, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy have already found a new home here.
In Tarasivka, the construction of an apartment building for families from frontline areas, a dormitory for evacuees, a space for IT academy students, and a shelter for women who have suffered violence has been completed. This was reported by Oleksiy Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
According to him, many residents emphasize that this project is not just about housing but also about restoring inner stability, a sense of security, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Such initiatives form the foundation for community recovery and restore hope.
Oleksiy Kuleba also recalled Mr. Hansen's visit, during which the importance of housing for those who lost their homes was discussed. Just eight months after this visit, the first phase of new residential complexes was opened, and by the end of the year, the first families began to move in.
According to Kuleba, in two years, the Charity Hansen Ukrainian Mission Fund has expanded its activities to several regions, creating over 900 new homes for about 4000 internally displaced persons.
This summer, together with Mr. Hansen, a new project was announced — the construction of another town in Hlevakha, Kyiv region. The planning is already completed, and construction of 720 new housing units will begin soon.
Oleksiy Kuleba expressed gratitude to Hansen for their joint efforts, noting that the collaboration between the government and partners yields tangible results for people. This project demonstrates how new recovery models can create opportunities for those who have suffered the most from the war.
It is worth recalling that a year ago, the second phase of Hansen Town for elderly displaced persons was opened in Kolonshchyna, where living arrangements are free and lifelong.
