The CEO of the mobile operator "Kyivstar", Oleksandr Komarov, stated that the company is going through one of its toughest periods regarding power supply since summer 2024, with nearly 30% of the network lacking electricity. He shared this information on his Facebook page.
According to him, five regional technology centers are operating on generators. Overall, the network is functioning with battery backups and generators, while about 4% of sites have lost functionality.
Komarov also advised internet users of "Kyivstar" to ensure backup power for their routers, which could help relieve the network during blackouts.
"As of mid-November, only 15-20% of Home Internet subscribers have arranged for backup power for their routers. During the recent total blackout in the Poltava region, the customer backup was only at 2%.
Everything is interconnected: users switch to mobile internet, increasing the load on base stations, reducing their autonomous operation time, and deteriorating the quality of mobile communication and data transmission speeds," he noted.
