New Milestone in Drone Production in Ukraine
Ukraine has begun the serial production of a new interceptor drone developed to combat "Shaheds". This significant announcement was made by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The technology has already been transferred to three primary manufacturers, with an additional eleven companies preparing their production lines.
"Octopus – this is a Ukrainian technology for intercepting "Shahed" drones, which has been tested in real combat conditions. It operates at night, under jamming, and at low altitudes. Thus, we are launching interceptors into mass production to ensure the swift protection of Ukrainian skies", – emphasized the minister.
He also noted that the defense ministry continues to implement an open cooperation policy with Ukrainian manufacturers, creating conditions for the rapid transition from innovations to serial combat solutions that enhance the country’s defense capability.
Recall that at the end of October, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented the Octopus interceptor drone, developed and tested in Ukraine, during an official visit to the United Kingdom.
According to the President's Office, the United Kingdom will produce these drones for further testing in Ukraine. After testing, the UK is ready to scale production not only within its borders but also in Ukraine.
Recently, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine has started producing interceptor drones in collaboration with the USA. While he did not provide details on production volumes, earlier in October, the head of state mentioned plans for the country to reach a production rate of 500-800 interceptor drones per day by November.
