On November 7, Ukraine was elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO for the 2025–2029 term with the highest number of votes. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this via Telegram.
"Together with Romania and Moldova, we outpaced Russia: for the second consecutive time, Moscow lost the elections and will not join the Board," Zelensky noted.
He expressed gratitude to the member states that supported Ukraine's candidacy.
"Together with our partners, we will utilize all opportunities that UNESCO provides to restore life, protect our culture, heritage, and people. We will ensure a proper response to all forms of Russian aggression—whether through war or hybrid threats. There is no alternative to peace. It's time for Moscow to realize this," emphasized Zelensky.
