Netherlands Allocates Funds for Ukraine's Cybersecurity
The Netherlands has announced a funding allocation of €10 million aimed at boosting Ukraine's cybersecurity and digital resilience. This financial support will be utilized under the "Ukraine Cyber Programme" (UCP), initiated by the UK government in 2022.
According to Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine is collaborating with international partners to implement the "Tallinn Mechanism and other initiatives designed to enhance defenses against cyber threats".
The primary focus is on developing Ukraine's civil cyber capabilities and building up the cyber infrastructure of various state authorities. Additionally, there are plans to procure software and hardware for government institutions and critical infrastructure operators.
A portion of the funds will be directed towards projects within the Tallinn Mechanism – an international initiative that assists Ukraine in strengthening its cyber resilience and digital security. To date, 13 countries have joined this initiative, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands, and others.
"In the context of the most technologically advanced war in history, support from partners in cybersecurity serves as a significant signal of trust and strategic partnership, enhancing our ability to protect critical infrastructure and ensure the sustainability of digital processes," stated Valeriya Ionan, advisor to Mykhailo Fedorov.
