Louvre Reopens: Museum Back in Business After Robbery

On Wednesday, October 22, the Louvre, one of the most famous museums globally, reopened its doors after a robbery incident. According to Reuters, the museum was closed for three days following the theft of historical royal jewels.
The value of the stolen artifacts is estimated at 88 million euros.
The robbery occurred on the morning of October 19 and lasted less than 10 minutes. A total of nine pieces belonging to Napoleon and Empress Eugenie were stolen. Two items have already been recovered: a damaged crown of Eugenie and another piece.
Following this high-profile theft, it was revealed that an unpublished report from the French Court of Auditors highlighted security issues at the Louvre.
Media outlets also reported that after the incident, museum director Laurence de Car submitted her resignation, but the Élysée Palace refused to accept it.
