Increase in Electricity Consumption in Ukraine Due to Cold Weather

The drop in temperature and the delay in the start of the heating season in Ukraine have caused a significant increase in electricity consumption across the country – by over 20% compared to the beginning of the month, said the head of "Ukrenergo" Vitaliy Zaychenko.
"We hope that in the near future, within ten days, heating supply will be established throughout Ukraine, which will lead to a decrease in electricity consumption. Many consumers are currently heating with electric heaters and air conditioners," he said during a telethon.
According to him, over the last seven years, residential consumers have become the largest electricity users in Ukraine, so changing their behavior can significantly help stabilize the situation – primarily by refraining from using powerful electrical appliances during peak load times.
