New Opportunities for Ukrainian Drones in the US
Ukraine is ready to supply the United States with domestically produced drones. Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, our country is also willing to provide these drones in exchange for American missiles. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with reporters.
"Certainly, the USA has a serious defense industry, and they can produce these devices themselves. However, what is needed is battlefield experience. The US acknowledges that while they have a robust industry, they currently lack our operational experience, and undoubtedly, your drones are the best available today. Thus, I expressed our readiness to supply them, especially in light of our partnership if we can obtain your missiles," he emphasized.
The President noted that Ukrainian companies are prepared to manufacture UAVs in the United States. There are also two crucial aspects tied to the agreements: the Mega Deal concerning the acquisition of American weaponry, and the Drone Deal pertaining to the procurement of Ukrainian drones.
"The Mega Deal includes various missiles and corresponding air defense systems. Meanwhile, the Drone Deal covers all those other drones we currently need, some of which we cannot sell, and those we can export," added Volodymyr Zelensky.
Notably, in the summer of 2025, the PURL initiative was launched, created jointly by NATO and the USA to expedite the supply of American weaponry to Ukraine.
At the end of September, the President of Ukraine stated that several packages of American weaponry had already been financed within the PURL initiative. The first two aid packages included missiles for the Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS rocket systems.
