Readiness of Ukraine's Power Grid for Winter Supply
The high-voltage network of "Ukrenergo" is fully prepared for the winter electricity supply as of October 17.
This was stated by the head of the company, Vitaliy Zaichenko, during a meeting with representatives of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine.
"If it weren't for the Russian shelling, we could say that we do not expect any difficulties during the heating season. Unfortunately, the enemy's strikes on energy facilities continue. Russia is once again attacking both generation and our substations," Zaichenko said.
According to him, dialogue with businesses and industry is crucial. In particular, regarding the involvement of privately owned backup power installations in the electricity market.
"This is important for speeding up the establishment of a distributed generation system, which is one of the main factors of our energy resilience," noted the head of "Ukrenergo".
According to companies producing electricity from gas turbine and gas piston installations, the growth of this type of generation in Ukraine this year, as of October, has reached 270%. The increase in energy storage installations is also significant.
