Cosmic Threat: Russia and Its Satellites

Russia continues its attempts to interfere with the operational capabilities of British military satellites through both ground-based jamming and the proximity of its own satellites. This was recently reported by General Paul Tedman, head of UK Space Command.
According to him, Russian satellites are flying close to British orbital systems and are equipped with specialized sensors for data collection. The activity of these satellites has increased significantly since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine. Signal jamming occurs weekly and is part of a deliberate campaign.
Tedman emphasized that Russia and China are actively testing anti-satellite weaponry and are exploring the potential for deploying nuclear arms in space.
The UK operates approximately six military satellites for communication and surveillance, while the USA, China, and Russia possess over a hundred such devices. In the last decade, the number of Russian-Chinese satellites has increased by 70%.
Last month, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also mentioned that Russian satellites are tracking the devices used by the German army.
Currently, there are around 45,000 objects in orbit, including 9,000 satellites, and an additional 300 launches are expected this year.
