Changes in Coin Circulation: 10 Kopecks Remain Valid

The National Bank of Ukraine is set to withdraw 10 kopeck coins from circulation, though they will continue to be accepted for payments. This was announced by the NBU.

Retail networks, banks, and services in Ukraine will still accept 10 kopeck coins for transactions. Citizens are not required to exchange them.

Starting from October 1, the NBU will no longer mint 10 kopeck coins and will cease supplying them to banks. Once these coins reach banks, they will not re-enter circulation but will be withdrawn and sent to the NBU for disposal.

“Considering the significant volume of 10 kopeck coins in circulation and the declining demand, the decision to gradually withdraw them will reduce costs for production and processing,” the NBU explained.

It is worth noting that 1, 2, and 5 kopeck coins were removed from circulation on October 1, 2019, and 25 kopecks were withdrawn on October 1, 2020. After the withdrawal of 10 kopeck coins, the smallest coin left will be 50 kopecks.
