Unique Reconstructive Surgery for Soldier in Kyiv
In the capital of Ukraine, at the Medical Center of the National Guard, a groundbreaking combined reconstructive surgery was successfully carried out, aimed at restoring the functionality and aesthetics of a wounded soldier's face. This time, the specialized care was provided to a serviceman from the Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police «Lut». This was reported by the National Guard.
The operation was performed by a team of doctors in collaboration with specialists from the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets, particularly Professor Yuriy Chepurnyi from the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery.
The medical team successfully reconstructed the alveolar process of the upper jaw using a custom-made titanium implant, along with osteoplastic material and the patient’s own bone.
The next step involves the installation of a custom maxillary prosthesis and preparation for future dental implant placements, which will restore the integrity of the dental arch, functionality, and aesthetic appearance.
The patient is reported to be feeling well, under medical supervision, and preparing for the next stages of reconstructive treatment. It is also noted that the operation was made possible thanks to a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation between the Medical Center of the National Guard, the charitable organization «Doctors for Heroes», and «IMATECH MEDICAL».
