Rescue Workers' Day in Ukraine
On September 17, Ukraine celebrates Rescue Workers' Day.
This day honors not only the emergency services and firefighters but also all individuals who have contributed to addressing the aftermath of both technological and natural disasters, safeguarding lives and health.
Rescue Workers' Day was established by the President of Ukraine on September 12, 2008.
As reported by Ukrinform, Andriy Danyk, the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, congratulated his colleagues and veterans on this professional holiday.
According to Danyk, firefighters, medics, psychologists, bomb disposal experts, divers, and other specialists form an integral part of a big family that saves lives and restores faith in safety every day.
"Each of you demonstrates bravery, resilience, and high professionalism under extremely challenging and dangerous conditions. Unfortunately, today, our units are cynically targeted by attacks, complicating our rescue missions," he noted.
He stated that "we face losses: destroyed equipment, wounded, and fallen comrades – this is our painful reality. The memory of those who gave their lives to save others will forever remain in our hearts."
Danyk expressed gratitude to the rescuers for their selflessness, courage, and dedication to their cause, as well as for their belief that good and truth will ultimately prevail.
