A New Era for Open Data in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government has approved a new initiative aimed at simplifying access to open data through the establishment of a dedicated portal.
This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Technologies.
«Open data refers to information collected and made available by government entities in a user-friendly digital format, excluding personal or confidential data. This can include data about budgets, transportation, education, healthcare, and company registries. From now on, all crucial data that holds social value will be consolidated in one accessible location,» the report states.
This initiative will enable citizens, businesses, and NGOs to quickly access the information they need and utilize it for analysis, service creation, and oversight of government activities.
The updates will also enhance the quality of data management by state authorities. They will receive clear guidelines on how to upload information to the new portal. This will make data more accessible to citizens while reducing the potential for misuse by officials.
As previously reported, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, YouControl, and the NGO «Association of Open Data» (AOD) have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of statistics, analytics, and digitalization.
