Celebrating Aviation Day in Ukraine: A Tribute to Heroes
Today, August 30, Ukraine marks Aviation Day.
President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated aviators on Telegram, emphasizing that thanks to their efforts, Ukrainian skies are well-protected.
"Aviation Day is a celebration for those who have made the sky their work and calling. Military and civilian personnel, pilots, crews, engineers, and air traffic controllers – you all play a crucial role for Ukraine. Our skies are secure under your watch", – he stated.
The President thanked everyone working for the safety of the nation and the development of Ukrainian aviation.
"We will do everything possible to ensure that Ukrainian skies remain peaceful and safe. Happy Aviation Day!", – the head of state remarked.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal also acknowledged the significance of Aviation Day on Facebook, expressing gratitude to pilots and engineers for their contributions to national defense. "You are true heroes who work daily to counter threats and save lives of Ukrainians".
"Eternal memory to those members of Ukrainian aviation who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine. Their deeds will forever remain in our hearts", – Shmyhal added.
He also thanked allies for assisting in enhancing Ukraine's aviation capabilities. "Ukraine will always remember your support in the toughest times".
"Dear aviators – pilots, engineers, and air traffic controllers, you are the backbone of our defense. Thanks to your steadfastness, millions of Ukrainians can live and thrive in their homeland", – stated the Commander of the Air Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko.
According to him, the bravery and selflessness of aviators save lives and instill confidence in the hearts of Ukrainians.
"You are the pride of the nation and a symbol of the resilience of the Ukrainian people", – the commander emphasized.
As reported, Aviation Day is a professional holiday for military and civilian aviators and workers in the aviation industry and transport in Ukraine, celebrated annually on the last Saturday of August. The holiday was established by the Presidential Decree "On Aviation Day" dated August 16, 1993.
