Reviving Lives: The Opening of a Prosthetic Center in Kyiv
A new facility has been established in Kyiv to support injured soldiers and civilians in need of innovative prosthetics and rehabilitation.
Today, the significant Prosthetic Center “Human Titans” was inaugurated in the capital, as announced by Kyiv's mayor Vitali Klitschko.
“The idea to create this center came about during my visit to Berlin around two years ago, where we visited a Bundeswehr military hospital that was rehabilitating Ukrainian defenders. This led to the initiative to establish a similar center in Kyiv,” said Vitali Klitschko.
He mentioned that thanks to the support of Berlin's mayor Kai Wegner, the charity organization Life Bridge Ukraine, and ONUR GROUP Ukraine, the project has been realized.
ONUR GROUP Ukraine covered most of the costs for the renovation of the center amounting to over 29 million UAH, while 11.2 million UAH was allocated from the city budget.
The equipment acquired and provided by Life Bridge Ukraine began to be put into operation in June. Specialists are already working on it and have commenced the production of prosthetics. The center is also equipped with a 3D scanner for crafting high-precision components.
“During the initial testing phase, 10 veterans from various regions of Ukraine have received prosthetic assistance,” shared Vitali Klitschko. “Six prosthetic technicians have undergone training at prosthetic centers in Berlin, and about 60 Ukrainian soldiers with lower limb amputations of varying complexities have received prosthetics at the Bundeswehr military hospital.”
Mayor Vitali Klitschko expressed gratitude to Berlin's Mayor Kai Wegner, Janine von Wolfersdorf, and her team from Life Bridge Ukraine and ONUR GROUP Ukraine for their support in bringing this important initiative to fruition.
