Commemorative Coins for Ukraine's Independence Day
On August 24, the NBU introduced a new series of silver coins for Independence Day, titled «Symbols of Ukraine».
This series is dedicated to the essential elements of our statehood — the Coat of Arms, the Anthem, and the Flag of Ukraine.
The symbols we embrace can unite or divide us, and state symbolism is always about the deepest connection for all citizens, conveying what is most precious.
«This is a sign and meaning understood by millions of Ukrainians everywhere.
And I am proud to share with you yet another numismatic update we have prepared for Independence Day of Ukraine,» said NBU Chairman Andriy Pyshny.
This set of commemorative coins «Symbols of Ukraine» is dedicated to the main attributes of Ukrainian statehood — the coat of arms, flag, and anthem, crafted in silver.
The Trident — a legacy of the Kyiv State of Volodymyr the Great, a symbol of unity and freedom, a right to self-determination.
The blue and yellow Flag — the colors of the sky and wheat, symbolizing prosperity, natural wealth, and the flourishing of Ukraine.
The Anthem «Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished» — a song that has uplifted the nation's spirit for over a century and calls for struggle.
«The state symbols live in the heart of each of us. They unite generations, shape national memory, and remind us that freedom is a value we carry through time! They are also immortalized in coins to remind us that Ukrainian independence has a solid foundation — our unity, dignity, and memory,» shared the NBU head about the spiritual significance of the new coins.
