White House Launches TikTok Amid ByteDance Deadline
On Tuesday, the White House officially launched a TikTok account as the Chinese parent company ByteDance faces renewed scrutiny regarding its operations in the United States.

The first video from the White House account, uploaded on Tuesday, showcased highlights from public addresses by President Donald Trump, where he declared: “I am your voice.”
ByteDance, based in China, has faced criticism in the United States due to concerns that it could allow the Chinese government access to American citizens' data.
The TikTok algorithm, which determines which videos users see next, has become a contentious topic. Critics warn that the Chinese government could exploit the algorithm to influence public opinion in the U.S., a claim that TikTok and ByteDance have consistently denied.
As reported by Ukrinform, on June 19, President Donald Trump extended the deadline for the third time and signed an official order to postpone the deadline for ByteDance regarding the sale of the U.S. version of TikTok.
The law signed by President Joe Biden last year mandated the shutdown of TikTok by January 19 unless ByteDance sold its American assets or demonstrated significant progress in negotiations. Trump, taking office on January 20, decided against enforcing the ban, initially extending the deadline to early April and then to June 19.
