Diplomatic Talks in Washington: New Horizons for Ukraine
The President of Ukraine has arrived in Washington for crucial discussions with the U.S. President and European leaders.
He shared this on his Telegram channel.
"I've arrived in Washington. Tomorrow, I'll meet with President Trump, and we'll also speak with European leaders. I am grateful to the U.S. President for the invitation," he stated in his post.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that everyone desires a swift and reliable end to the war. Peace must be lasting, unlike past situations that forced Ukraine to cede Crimea and parts of the Donbas, which only served as a pretext for further aggression. "We should not have given up Crimea, just as we did not relinquish Kyiv, Odesa, or Kharkiv after 2022," he noted.
"Ukrainians are fighting for their land and independence. Our troops are currently achieving success in Donetsk and Sumy. I am confident we will defend Ukraine and ensure security, and our nation will always be grateful to President Trump and all our American friends for their support. Russia must end this war that it started. I hope our combined strength with America and our European allies will compel Russia to pursue genuine peace," the President emphasized.
Earlier, it was reported that on Monday, a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump is set to take place in the Oval Office. European leaders are also expected to visit the White House to discuss options for ending the war in Ukraine.
