Concerts Canceled Due to Copyright Violations
The concert agency Atmosphere has canceled two concerts titled «You Said to Me: I Love You» in Lviv on August 11, at the request of Lina Kostenko.
The renowned Ukrainian poet and author stated that the organizers grossly violated copyright laws and prior agreements.
Representatives of Lina Kostenko emphasized that the cancellation was due to the organizers lacking written permission for the public performance of her works and not informing her about the concert intentions in Lviv, despite extensive advertising and significant ticket sales.
The concerts were scheduled for August 11 at 16:30 and 19:30, but the event was not completely canceled; the Atmosphere agency changed the title to «Love, Black-eyed Susans», featuring poetry from other authors.
A similar concert, for which tickets were fully sold out, took place in Kyiv on June 30 at the International Center for Culture and Arts.
Lina Kostenko mentioned that certain conditions she set for the event were met, although they were agreed upon during the preparation process of the artistic event, which had already been actively promoted.
Lina Kostenko is completing a new historical novel about the Hetmanate era and preparing it for publication.
