Honoring Military Communicators: A Day of Appreciation
Today in Ukraine, we celebrate the Day of Military Communicators, recognizing the crucial role they play in ensuring communication within the Armed Forces.
This holiday was established by the President's decree on February 1, 2000. On this day, August 8, 1920, the training of communicators began in Kyiv based on the Kostyantyniv Military School.
With Ukraine's independence on January 3, 1992, the communication management of the Kyiv Military District began overseeing communication for several military districts, laying the groundwork for the establishment of the communication management of the General Staff.
In February 2020, as part of military reforms, the Main Communication Department was transformed into the Command of Communication Troops and Cybersecurity.
Today, communication troops are essential for ensuring command and control within the Armed Forces, with the profession of communicator becoming increasingly in demand.
President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the military communicators for their contributions to the success of complex operations.
Zelensky emphasized that this is a day to thank those who maintain reliable communication in the toughest times, ensuring the success of military actions.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal also congratulated military communicators, highlighting the importance of reliable communication for successful operations.
He noted that, thanks to the efforts of communicators, commanders receive timely information, and soldiers get life-saving support.
Shmyhal wished military communicators health, inspiration, and new achievements in their service.
