New Drone Technologies in the Russian Military
The GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published details about a new drone currently utilized by the Russian army for reconnaissance and distracting Ukrainian air defense forces. Reports indicate that this UAV can carry a payload of up to 15 kg.
According to GUR, the drone features a delta-wing fuselage similar to the Shahed-136, but is considerably smaller. Notably, all components used in the UAV are of Chinese origin.
Nearly half of the components, including the flight controller, navigation modules, and antennas, are supplied by the Chinese company CUAV Technology, which specializes in UAV system development.
It's important to mention that in October 2022, the company announced a restriction on supplying its products to Ukraine and Russia to prevent their military use. However, in 2023, Russian forces introduced a UAV that turned out to be a product of CUAV Technology, available on Aliexpress.
In addition to CUAV products, the drone employs an engine and ignition module from DLE, KST servos, an FPV camera from Foxeer Technology, and a Mayatech RFD900X data transmission module.
The drone is also equipped with a Chinese copy of the Australian RFD900x data transmission module, designed to transmit data over long distances of up to 40 km.
This device enables the establishment of a reliable communication channel between the drone and its ground station, significantly enhancing reconnaissance capabilities.
Additionally, it is worth noting that DLE engines have been previously used in Russian drones like the "Herber" and "Parody".
Recently, the Chief of GUR of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that North Korea currently supplies about 40% of munitions to Russia for the war in Ukraine.
