Criminal Investigation Against Businessman: New Developments
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed its investigation concerning the associate of Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynkevych, who inflicted over a billion hryvnias in damages to the state.
This was reported by the SBI.
According to the investigation, the businessman’s associate organized the supply of substandard military equipment for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, totaling over 1.16 billion hryvnias.
The indictment has been submitted to the court.
"Due to the fact that the figure in this large-scale corruption case is hiding abroad, the case against him has been separated into an individual proceeding. He was a close childhood friend and godfather to the Lviv businessman. Currently, according to investigators, he is hiding in Vienna, the capital of Austria," the SBI stated.
In February 2024, the court issued an in-absentia arrest warrant for the suspect, who is now wanted internationally via Interpol.
Reminder:
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense made a decision to terminate all contracts with companies associated with businessman Ihor Hrynkevych.
In 2023, the State Bureau of Investigation initiated a criminal case regarding fraudulent procurement of uniforms and linens for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ihor Hrynkevych's companies were among the largest suppliers to the Ministry of Defense, winning 23 tenders for providing uniforms worth over 1.5 billion hryvnias.
However, many contracts were either not fulfilled or were executed partially or at inflated prices.
At the end of December 2023, the SBI detained the Lviv businessman during an attempt to bribe a senior officer of the SBI with 500 thousand dollars.
