For the first time in Ukraine, standardized regulations for transporting animals on intercity and international buses have been established.
This initiative is a joint effort by the Government and UAnimals in response to numerous requests from pet owners and passengers.
How can animals be transported?
Small animals (up to 10 kg) – cats, dogs, birds, or rodents – must travel in containers or bags with absorbent bottoms. They can be held in hands, under seats, or in designated areas (where an extra seat must be purchased).
Medium and large dogs (10–45 kg) must travel on a leash, wearing a muzzle, and on a mat on the floor. Extra adjacent seats must be purchased. They are not allowed to sit in chairs.
Dogs over 45 kg will travel according to the specific rules of the carrier, in specially equipped transport.
Guide dogs can always travel for free, without needing additional seats, alongside the person they assist. They must wear a muzzle and be on a short leash.
