New Social Program for Parents of First Graders
At the initiative of the President, the government is launching a new social support program called «School Starter Package». Parents who enroll their children in first grade will receive financial assistance of 5,000 hryvnias.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.
«This assistance will amount to 5,000 hryvnias, aimed at those parents sending their children to first grade in an offline format», — explained Shmyhal.
According to him, the funds can be used for purchasing stationery, books, children's clothing, and footwear necessary for preparing for the school year.
Applications for receiving funds can be submitted through the «Diia» app or portal.
The Prime Minister noted that the process will be «convenient and straightforward». The funds can only be spent in a cashless manner, by using a card in stores that sell relevant school supplies.
He also emphasized that this payment will not affect the receipt of subsidies or other forms of social assistance.
«The Ministry of Social Policy will communicate all details, including the start date for applications», — added Shmyhal.
The head of government highlighted that the launch of the «School Starter Package» is just a small part of broader innovations aimed at creating conditions for Ukrainians to continue living and working in Ukraine.
As reported earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the government is developing a comprehensive social support system for families with children, covering all stages from pregnancy to adulthood. The new model is designed to replace fragmented programs with a cohesive strategy that includes medical, social, and educational support.
