New Digital Platform for Army Supply Management
A new digital platform called DOT-Chain Defence has been launched in Ukraine, aimed at facilitating the supply of weapons for the Armed Forces. This was announced by Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
The system serves as an online marketplace designed for the efficient provision of frontline units. In its pilot phase, 10 brigades of the Armed Forces will participate, with the Ministry of Defense allocating one billion hryvnias to the Defense Procurement Agency.
According to the ministry, these funds will allow brigades to order FPV drones through the IT system of the State Logistics Operator, with plans to include other types of UAVs, electronic warfare equipment, and robotic systems soon.
The ministry also stated that each military unit will have the ability to choose exactly what it needs to fulfill its tasks. Meanwhile, the Defense Procurement Agency will ensure funding and delivery without unnecessary bureaucracy. Deliveries will now occur in a few weeks instead of months.
The DOT-Chain Defence system is based on a food supply model for the army.
How the system works:
- Military personnel can independently select, order, and reserve the necessary resources, view delivery timelines, leave feedback, and receive prompt responses;
- Manufacturers will have a clear mechanism for cooperation with the state and the military, as well as direct feedback from soldiers;
- The state will be able to see the real needs of the front, make data-driven decisions, and support the development of the defense industry and the implementation of innovations.
It is worth noting that in June, the Ministry of Defense's procurement agencies, the "Defense Procurement Agency" and the "State Logistics Operator," presented the IT system's functionality during an online meeting with representatives from over fifty military units.
