Historic Achievements of MAGURA Sea Drones in Ukraine
For the first time in military technology history — five unique records of the MAGURA sea drones were officially registered in the Records Book of Ukraine.
Representatives of the Records Book of Ukraine documented five significant achievements made possible by the use of MAGURA drones in Ukrainian military intelligence and awarded certificates to the Main Intelligence Directorate.
- first in the world sinking of military ships by sea drones;
- first-ever shooting down of a military aircraft by a sea drone;
- first recorded aerial target hit by a sea drone;
- most military ships hit: from 2023 to 2024, the Ukrainian Military Intelligence hit 15 units of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation;
- highest number of sunk ships.
The official registration took place at the Museum of Military Intelligence of Ukraine, where an exhibition dedicated to MAGURA drones has also been opened.
Certificates were presented to Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, head of the UAV department, and to the fighters of the "Group 13" who directly implement maritime operations with drones.
"We have observed the development and combat application of MAGURA and can confidently state that these achievements are unique on a global scale. They demonstrate that even in the most challenging conditions, Ukraine can create innovations that change the course of the war," — said Andriy Masyuk, a representative of the Records Book of Ukraine.
Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the high combat effectiveness of MAGURA.
"Every sunk ship and every downed aircraft reduces the enemy's capabilities. These are real steps towards our victory. I want to thank Group 13 for their work. Their dedication allows us to achieve such results," — Budanov stated.
The commander of the intelligence unit "Group 13" with the call sign "Thirteenth" thanked Ukrainian engineers for their ingenuity.
"I want to thank the commanders who supported the initiative, the manufacturers — for their innovations, and my team — for their dedicated and successful work. We are fighting against a resource-rich state, so any support is especially valuable. We are sincerely grateful to everyone — especially to the Records Book for this recognition and trust," — emphasized Thirteenth.
The ceremony was joined by military security expert Mykhailo Honchar.
"MAGURA drones have already set records for combat effectiveness on water and in the air. I wish the Main Intelligence Directorate that the next record be underwater, as Russian submarines are already waiting to meet Ukrainian drones," — Honchar said.
Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, highlighted the strategic significance of the recorded achievements.
"The established records are evidence of how Ukraine is changing the military history of the world, proving that innovation and courage are stronger than any number of enemies. We are proud of everyone who contributed to the creation and use of MAGURA sea drones. Your work is an example for the whole world of how asymmetric responses can be effective and devastating to the aggressor," — noted Yusov.
