New Platform Launched to Aid Families of Missing Persons
A new platform concerning persons missing under special circumstances was unveiled in Kyiv.
The platform was introduced by its founders from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine during a press conference in Kyiv.
This new information platform dedicated to missing persons is an official resource created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to coordinate search efforts and provide support to their families.
“We have gathered all the information that can be useful for the relatives of missing persons. Our goal is to create an informational bridge between the agencies conducting searches and the families needing updates. Our foremost task is to establish maximum communication with people so they feel they are not alone and that we are doing everything possible to find their loved ones,” stated Maryana Reva, Director of the Communication Department of the Ministry.
The platform contains instructions on how to initiate a search, file a report, submit DNA samples for identification, obtain extracts from the Unified Register of Missing Persons, and learn about rights and social guarantees.
“In every regional investigative department of the National Police, we have set up specialized centers for searching missing persons. This platform will significantly enhance families' awareness of these specialized centers and help them quickly find the investigator, learn about the criminal proceedings, and understand how and where to submit biological samples,” explained Kristina Podyryako, Head of the Crime Investigation Organization Department.
The platform will provide comprehensive information about who is involved in the search for missing persons, where to seek assistance, and how to interact with law enforcement, forensic experts, and other entities.
“This is a living system where we are committed to explaining who is responsible for what and providing current links. Each agency involved in the search has its own algorithms and processes. We show families where to turn for information on different issues and to familiarize themselves with all the functions, developments, and latest news related to searches,” said Arthur Dobroserdov, Commissioner for Missing Persons.
The platform is intended to serve as a coordination center for searching for missing persons and supporting their families, uniting the efforts of various government bodies and NGOs.
The platform is available online on the Ministry's website.
The Unified Register for the identification of remains is expected to launch in Ukraine this year.
