Transition to European Voltage Standard in Ukraine
From July 1, 2025, Ukraine will implement a new European voltage standard of 230/400 V.
This is outlined in the resolution of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NCRECP) No. 550 dated April 15.
The document makes amendments to the Distribution System Code, introducing European approaches to defining electricity quality parameters. The nominal voltage will now be 230/400 V, with an acceptable deviation of 10% (from 207 to 253 V).
The DSTU EN 50160:2014 standard, which previously defined electricity supply voltage characteristics, ceased to be in effect in March 2024. In May of the same year, a new standard harmonized with the European EN 50160 was approved, coming into force on March 1, 2025.
NCRECP expects that the transition to European standards will positively affect the quality of electricity supply. Stable voltage will reduce the risk of damage to sensitive household appliances and decrease the need for additional protective measures such as stabilizers. Additionally, it will enhance energy efficiency, allowing electrical devices to operate optimally without overloads and power losses.
The DTEK group emphasizes that household appliances are manufactured considering EU requirements, so the transition to the new voltage standard will not harm them.
