Hungary has officially concluded the counting of votes on the government "referendum" regarding Ukraine's potential accession to the European Union. Reports indicate that 95% of participants voted against it.
According to official statistics, 2 million 278 thousand Hungarians participated in the survey, with 95% opposing and only 5% supporting Ukraine's EU membership.
The reported number of voters represents approximately 29% of the total Hungarian electorate eligible to vote in last year’s European Parliament elections (7.8 million individuals).
Telex notes that there are significant doubts about the validity of the voting results, as practical checks revealed that an individual could vote twice using different email addresses.
Speaking at a recent briefing, government spokesperson Gergely Gulyás emphasized that printed ballots undergo notarization, making them "impossible to forge." However, he was unable to confirm whether the system could detect those who voted first on paper and then electronically. He mentioned that online votes make up only about 10% of the total.
