Norway to Develop Drones in Ukraine
The Norwegian government has announced its intention to develop and manufacture unmanned surface vessels in Ukraine.
This information was shared by the Norwegian Ministry of Defense on social media platform X.
It has been reported that Norway allocated approximately 6.7 billion Norwegian kroner (around 580 million euros) to support the "maritime coalition" it co-leads with the United Kingdom.
"Part of this funding will be directed towards the development and production of unmanned maritime vessels using KDA technologies, with production based in Ukraine," said Norway's Minister of Defense, Tore Onshuus Sandvik.
The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) has signed an agreement with a Ukrainian partner for joint development and production of surface drones utilizing Norwegian technology and expertise.
"Unmanned vessels play a crucial role in assisting Ukraine in defending its territory and countering the Russian fleet in the Black Sea," the announcement stated.
As reported by Ukrinform, earlier Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov announced the opening of an office for the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace in Ukraine, which manufactures weapons, including NASAMS air defense systems.
