A 13-year-old boy in Hnivan suffered an electric shock after climbing onto the roof of a freight train and grabbing a high-voltage line.
The injured boy was hospitalized in critical condition, according to the regional police department and the State Emergency Service.
They reported that on the evening of June 21, the teenager climbed onto a stationary tank car. While there, he grabbed a high-voltage line, resulting in severe electrical injuries.
One of the local railway station workers alerted the emergency services about the incident. By the time rescuers arrived, the boy was found lying on the ground between the tracks.
"Emergency responders, together with police officers, rescued the teenager and handed him over to the ambulance crew," the rescuers added.
The boy was hospitalized in critical condition at the Regional Hospital's Burn and Plastic Surgery Center.
A police investigative team is working at the scene of the incident.
"We urge parents to educate their children that railway areas are not playgrounds. The contact lines are under high voltage. Even without direct contact, they can be fatal," the State Emergency Service warned.
