Tragic Incident in Belgium: Son Admits to Killing Mother and Sister

A 16-year-old boy, son of a murdered Ukrainian woman in Belgium, admitted to killing his mother and younger sister and to setting their house ablaze.

Details: The prosecutor's office in Leuven reported that after a lengthy interrogation, the teenager confessed to inflicting fatal injuries on his mother and sister and to arson. 

The young man will appear before a juvenile court on Sunday, being a minor. 

It’s worth noting that the incident occurred on June 6. A fire was noticed in the house where the Ukrainian military family lived. Inside, authorities found the deceased 46-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter, both with fatal stab wounds. Their dog also perished in the fire. The older son was at school at the time and was initially considered a victim. 

The family arrived in Belgium at the start of the full-scale war. Another adult daughter resides in Ireland, and the father is a serviceman involved in evacuation efforts. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has instructed its embassy in Belgium to keep this case under special control.
