New Photobook Highlighting Kyiv's History
In Kyiv, with the support of the Department of Public Communications of the Kyiv City State Administration, a new photobook titled «Kyiv Through the Lens of Mykhailo Bolotov» has been released. This publication is now available for exploration in the city’s libraries.
The photobook offers an immersive journey into the past of Kyiv, capturing the city’s life at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. It primarily features the works of Mykhailo Bolotov — a photographer who managed to preserve the vanishing architecture, ancient churches, and the unique atmosphere of that era. Additionally, the publication includes photographs from other creators — both professional photographers and enthusiasts who have documented the essence of Kyiv over the years.
Myroslava Smirnova, the head of the Department of Public Communications and a member of the Kyiv City Council, commented: «This is a significant project for preserving historical memory. Mykhailo Bolotov's works convey the spirit of the city with a deep sense of beauty. I sincerely thank everyone involved in creating this book — editor Olha Druh, the team from the Museum of the History of Kyiv, and everyone who contributed to this unique publication».
This photobook is an important step in safeguarding the cultural heritage of the capital and will serve as a valuable addition to the collections of public libraries in Kyiv.
