Elon Musk Concludes His Role in Trump's Administration
American entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced that his time in Donald Trump's administration is coming to an end. He shared this news on the social media platform X.
As a reminder, he has been serving as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), focusing on cost-cutting.
“My term as a special government employee is concluding, and I want to thank President Trump for the opportunity to reduce waste. The mission of DOGE will only grow stronger over time, becoming a lifestyle for the entire government,” he stated.
Meanwhile, according to Interfax-Ukraine, a White House representative informed CNN that Musk will start the process of resigning on May 29.
Previously, Musk criticized the “big beautiful bill” (BBB), a central aspect of the 47th president of the USA's legislative proposals, according to Radio Liberty. He expressed his “disappointment” with the bill.
The document involves a combination of tax cuts and enhanced immigration controls. In a conversation with CBS, Musk described it as a “massive spending bill” that increases the federal deficit and “undermines the work” of DOGE.
Last week, the House of Representatives in the US Congress approved the budget proposal put forth by Trump, which entails tax reductions and increased spending, including for defense. It is now under consideration by the Senate.
Trump refers to the bill as “great and beautiful” and “likely the most significant” in US history. However, he had to persuade several Republican members of Congress to support the budget, reports the Financial Times.
The Washington Post cited sources claiming that Musk's decision was influenced by frustration over insufficient results. His reform program led to the reduction of tens of thousands of government employees and the elimination of certain agencies, but the financial effects promised by Musk were not realized, reported “Настоящее время”.
As reported by IMI, on April 22, Elon Musk stated that starting in May, he would devote significantly less time to his role in Trump's administration and focus on managing Tesla.
President Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk as one of the heads of the new Department of Government Efficiency. Trump also granted Musk the status of “special government employee”.
