Ukraine and Russia to Hold Talks in Istanbul: A New Chapter

On May 16, Ukrainian and Russian delegations will convene in Istanbul, joined by representatives from the USA and Turkey.

The Turkish news agency Anadolu reports this, citing sources from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The talks will be led by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, while the US delegation will be headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

No official confirmation of the talks in this format has been received yet.

Russia, initiating these discussions, has sent a low-level delegation led by President Putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed skepticism about the potential breakthroughs in these negotiations.

Meanwhile, on May 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the composition of the Ukrainian delegation, which will be led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
